WrestleMania 26 : Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase
16 Mar 2010
The trio of Superstars who once believed it was their birthright to dominate WWE together has now split at the seams. At WrestleMania, Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes will square off against one another in a Triple Threat Match.
Kofi Kingston has proven himself to be one of the most agile, athletic and fierce competitors in WWE. For Batista, however, he seemed like little more than an appetizer on the way to a colossal entrιe. The WWE Champion appeared to send a message to his WrestleMania opponent, John Cena, when he punished Cena’s one-time ally and stood tall in the ring displaying his WWE Title.
Triple H vs. Randy Orton ended in a No Contest
With the memory of their epic main event match from last year’s 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania still fresh, Triple H and Randy Orton took up the gauntlet one more time. The two, however, would never reach a conclusion. Instead, their respective WrestleMania foes Sheamus, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes interceded. The three attacked, kicking up a five-man melee that resulted in The Game and The Viper being left motionless on the canvas.
Unified Tag Team Champion Big Show def. John Cena
In the first WrestleMania Rewind Match of the night, John Cena faced off against Big Show, his opponent from WrestleMania XX. While the two powerhouses exchanged sturdy blows, it was Cena who finally seemed to best The World’s Largest Athlete as he prepared to slam Show with an Attitude Adjustment. WWE Champion Batista, who will battle Cena at this year’s extravaganza, walked to the ring and distracted Cena enough for one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions to gain his composure before leveling him with a knockout punch.

- In honor of WrestleMania XXVI, the April 2010 issue of WWE Magazine features twenty-six different collectible covers. It's worth noting that the WWE Divas, who haven't been prominently feature on a cover of WWE Magazine since 2006, were shut out here too as all twenty-six covers were given to male wrestlers. Among those featured with their very own cover are Batista, Big Show, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Christian, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Edge, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, John Cena, John Morrison, Kane, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, Santino Marella, Shawn Michaels, Sheamus, Ted DiBiase, The Miz, Triple H and Undertaker. The cover bearing Shawn Michaels is apparently the only one being sent out to subscribers, so fans of the likes of Bret Hart and Drew McIntyre will have to hunt newsstands for theirs.
Mr. McMahon def. John Cena in a No Disqualification Handicap Gauntlet Match
It took deception, dishonesty and, oh, about five or so Superstars, but Mr. McMahon finally managed to beat John Cena. The Chairman, hoping to prove a point to his WrestleMania rival Bret Hart, had arranged a match between himself and Cena. Perhaps realizing the odds stacked against him, Mr. McMahon changed the rules of engagement, setting up a Gauntlet-Style bout.
Cena’s first hurdle was Vladimir Kozlov followed by Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger and a conflicted Mark Henry. When none of these Superstars managed to wear down Cena enough, The Chairman stipulated that the bout was now a No Disqualification Match. After failing to enlist The World’s Strongest Man to nail Cena with the ring bell, WWE Champion Batista entered the fray and laid out Henry. Before The Chairman could clock Cena with the bell, though, Kofi Kingston ran out for the save. Batista seemed prepared as he attacked Kingston and even battled Cena at that point.
With Cena incapacitated, his WrestleMania foe took advantage and Batista Bombed the exhausted Superstar in the ring. Mr. McMahon then quickly pinned him for the win.
Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase def. Randy Orton
Randy Orton couldn’t wait. As his opponents in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, made their way to the ring, their ringleader-turned-rival attacked, leaving the duo dazed before the bout even started. The ambush proved reminiscent of the punishment The Viper dished out to his protιgιs the week prior.
The Viper, however, would need more than a surprise strike to defeat the two. DiBiase managed to pin the former mentor for an especially satisfying victory. Afterward, Rhodes joined in the fun, also pummeling the impaired Orton with glee.
